William Hepburne-Scott has been named RBC Wealth Management’s new chief commercial officer, taking charge of executing the firm’s commercial strategy for European Wealth Management.
Hepburne-Scott’s responsibilities will include coordinating commercial work with client propositions, regulatory requirements, and the firm’s long-term objectives.
He joins the leadership position from his role as managing director and head of the Southern Region, which he has held since 2023. Hepburne-Scott has been with the business for 30 years, starting as an investment manager at the firm’s London office in 1996.
Meanwhile, Lucie Gordon, managing director for the Northern Region, will leave the firm at the end of December 2026. She joined RBC Brewin Dolphin in 2014 and took up her current position in 2023.
Rod Walley, Robin Mellows, and Kevin Jennings will assume wider responsibilities, becoming regional managing directors. They will oversee different regions, including the North, Central, South West, Wales, London, and the South East.
These changes come as RBC Wealth Management pursues expansion plans in the UK, Jersey, and the Republic of Ireland. The firm’s strategic hiring programme, which began at the start of this financial year, aims to bring in over 70 experienced professionals by the end of 2027.
Hal Catherwood, managing director of RBC Wealth Management, states that William Hepburne-Scott’s appointment is an important step in the continued evolution of the business. Catherwood also thanks Lucie Gordon for her significant contribution over the past 12 years and wishes her well for her retirement.
Hepburne-Scott’s appointment and the expansion plans signal the firm’s ambition to drive sustainable, organic growth. The strategic hiring programme is focused on client-facing positions, intending to strengthen the firm’s ability to deliver advice-led wealth management.
